Speaker Bio: Elin has been a Nutrition Support Dietitian for nealry 20 years. Her expertise includes nutrition assessment, Neuro, ICU, and both critical care and home care. In addition to authoring several publications on Nutrition support, Elin has been an instructor at EWU, SCC, and for Resident Physicians. She also provides staff education and has precepted dietetic students. Elin also has volunteered with NWASPEN, SCRAPS, Spokanimal-CARE, Partners for Pets and United States Masters Swimming.
Learning Objectives
1. The learner will be able to identify patient populations that may benefit from vitamin/mineral supplementation.
2. The learner will be familiar with the research about the benefits of micronutrient supplementation to minimize the risk of certain chronic diseases.
3. The learner will understand how to modify dietary intake in order to meet the RDA for vitamins and minerals for adults.
4. The learner will be able to identify those micronutrients which are unlikely to be found in sufficient quantities in the standard U.S. diet.
5. The learner will be familiar with the U.S. D.R.I. categories and their implications in assessing dietary intake. 

 
NWSPEN will be hosting the following 90 minute teleseminars.

These timely topics in clinical nutrition will help you provide optimum nutrition care to your patients. Following each 60 minute presentation, you are able to participate in a 30 minutes Q&A to clarify any of the content. Please invite your nutrition support teams, or other colleagues at your facility. Appropriate for MD, RN, RD, RPH.
