ADA’s Public Policy Priorities and Current Federal Legislation for 2009-2010 can be found on ADA's advocacy home page.  Important issues include:
     - Healthcare Reform
     - Obesity Prevention, Treatment and Research Act—S. 1060
             Expands MNT to cover obesity treatment
             Access to health foods, BMI monitoring and community prevention programs
     - Child Nutrition Reauthorization Act
             Allows Secretary of Agriculture to extend nutrition standards to all schools participating
             in school lunch program
             Ensures that the Dietary Guidelines are the foundation for the federal assistance programs
     - MNT for Pre-Diabetes—H.R. 2590
              Expanding MNT to cover Medicare patients who are pre-diabetic or with risk factors for diabetes
      - Restaurant Nutrition Labeling (Section 325 of HELP Committee’s, Affordable Health Choices Act)
              Requires basic nutrition labeling on menu boards and more detailed information upon request.
