Ruth Lenore Harris Scholarship
The Ruth Lenore Harris Endowment Fund was established in conjunction with Washington State University in 1985 by the Harris family in Ruth's memory. Ruth was a registered dietitian who graduated from the University of Washington in 1953 and completed her internship at the University of Oregon. She was a member of both WSDA and ODA. The fund established by Ruth's family is used exclusively for dietetics education in Washington State in the form of scholarships and funding for speakers at our annual meeting.
Note:  The application period for this award has passed.  Award recipients have been notified and will be recognized during the 2010 Convention.  This is the last year that WSDA will be coordinating this scholarship. Future applicants must be WSU students - information is available from the College of Pharmacy.

Award nominations for 2010 (for the awards below) were due January 31, 2010.
Award recipients will be notified by early March and will be announced during the 2010 convention.

Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year
The purpose of the RYDY award to is recognize the competence and activities of younger dietitians in the American Dietetic Association and to encourage continued participation in ADA and WSDA. 

WSDA Outstanding Dietitian of the Year
The Outstanding Dietitian Award is the highest honor given by WSDA.  The purpose of the ODY award is to recognize the accomplishments of dietitians in the state of Washington.  This award highlights notable leadership, ability and service. 

Emerging Dietetic Leader Award (EDL)
The Emerging Dietetic Leader Award recognizes the competence and activities of members, regardless of their age, who are at the beginning of their dietetic careers.  Members receiving this honor have supported the promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the public through demonstrating leadership in legislation, research, education, management, and other areas related to the profession.

Excellence in Clinical Practice/Research Award
The Clinical Practice and Research Award for Excellence was established by WSDA in 1990 to promote member worth and to acknowledge the professional contributions of clinical/research practitioners in Washington State. 

WSDA Community Practice Award for Excellence

The Community Practice Award for Excellence was established by WSDA in 1990 to promote member worth and to acknowledge the professional contributions of community practitioners in Washington State. 

Recognized Young Dietetic Technician of the Year (RDTY)

The purpose of the RDTY award to is recognize the competence and activities of younger dietetic technicians in the American Dietetic Association and to encourage continued participation in ADA and WSDA.  

Outstanding Student Awards
The purpose of the outstanding student award is to recognize the emerging leadership and achievement of students in ADA-accredited and approved dietetic education programs.  ADA established the outstanding student awards in 1994 to recognize students who have demonstrated exceptional academic excellence and leadership in their dietetics program.

Outstanding Educator Award

This award is coordinated by the DEP DPG. Special note: nominations for this award were due by 12/31/09.
