Frequently Asked Questions
Students often have questions regarding their ADA or WSDA membership.
Have a new question? Email the WSDA Office!
I am a student ADA member - how do I become a WSDA member?
Your ADA dues include state/affiliate membership. When you pay your dues, you select your state. There is no additional charge.
I would love to job-shadow someone. Is that possible?
As a student WSDA member, you have access to the members-only mentor section of the website. You can search for a specific geographical or practice area. Check with one of the listed mentors - they may be willing to have you job-shadow.
I am planning on attending convention. Are there volunteer opportunities at convention that might reduce my registration rate?
WSDA works hard to keep registration rates as low as possible for convention - especially for students. At this time, we do not have volunteer positions that would further reduce fees.
I am not applying for an internship right now but would like to maximize my opportunity to obtain an internship. I've been thinking about becoming a DTR (dietetic technician, registered). Is this possible?
The Commission on Dietetic Registration has just released a new pathway to become a DTR! You can become a dietitian technician registered without any further education or experience. Completion of the baccalaureate degree and the DPD program provide the eligibility you need to sit for the registration exam. You can read more about this at www.cdrnet.org. It is referred to as dietetic technician Pathway III. There is also a section of the website that provides student information.
